Whenever a page on your website doesn't load, an error message will be shown to the site visitor. As there are different errors, there are different pages that'll display, but what is standard for all of them is that they are generic and in all probability will have practically nothing in common with the design of your Internet site, which could be annoying for any site visitor. That is the reason why hosting companies have introduced a feature known as Custom Error Pages. For a variety of different errors, site visitors shall see your unique content, which may be informative or funny, depending on your taste, and which shall match the style and design of your Internet site, so the pages will not look like they aren't part of your site at all. You can use this option for a variety of errors - 400 (Bad request), 401 (Unauthorized), 403 (Forbidden) and 404 (File not Found).

Custom Error Pages in Shared Hosting

The customized error pages feature is provided with every single shared hosting package which we offer and you shall be able to substitute the generic pages with your own with no more than several clicks inside your Hepsia hosting Control Panel. You will have to create the actual files and to upload them to your account, then to set them for a particular domain or subdomain using the Hosted Domains section of the Hepsia CP. You can easily do this for each and every web site hosted in the account separately, so that each group of customized pages shall have the exact same design as the website it's part of. If necessary, you can always revert back to a default page from our system or to the default Apache server page. One other way to set custom error pages is to create an .htaccess file inside the domain/subdomain root folder and to add a few lines in it. If you haven't done this before, you can simply copy the needed program code from our Help article on the subject.

Custom Error Pages in Semi-dedicated Hosting

All of the Linux semi-dedicated hosting that we offer support tailor-made error pages and it shall not take more than a few mouse clicks from your Hepsia web hosting Control Panel to use this function. The option is available in the Hosted Domains section of your Control Panel where you will need to type in the links to the custom-made files through basic drop-down menus and an easy to use interface. Of course, you must upload them inside your account before that. If you don't need to employ this feature at some point, you can deactivate it just as easily and pick an Apache server page or a default page from our system to be viewable when your visitors encounter an error. If you prefer, you could also use an .htaccess file to allow the personalized error pages. The file has to have a specific line of code plus a link for every error type and you can easily find an example of the entire content for all four error types in our Help section.
